Biography
- Born in Bandra's Holy Family Hospital, Mumbai, India.
- Aamir Khan belonged to family of Indian freedom fighter Abul Kalam
Azad.He is also a descendant of former President of India, Dr. Zakir
Hussain and a second cousin to former Chairperson of Rajya Sabha, Dr
Najma Heptullah.
- His father, Tahir Hussain, died on Feb 3, 2010.
- While he was in school and had became a state tennis champion for Maharashtra.
- Amir fell in love with the girl next door in the meantime. He
proposed to her the day he turned 21, and she accepted. But apparently,
there was opposition since she was from a Hindu family and he, from a
devout Islamic one. So, they eloped, got married and returned to their
homes. Later they revealed it to the world after his debut movie as lead
"Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak".
After his first marriage he took another flat in the same building
where he lived with his parents, and started living there. Amir's wife
Reena even appears in the song "Papa Kehte Hain". Khan married Reena
Dutta, who had a small part in "Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak". They have two
children, a son named Junaid and a daughter namely Aira. Reena was
involved briefly in Khan's career when she worked as a producer for
Lagaan. In December 2002, Khan filed for divorce, ending the 15-year
marriage. He received divorce from wife Reena on December 9, 2002. Reena
took custody of both children.
- On 28 December 2005, Khan married Kiran Rao who had been an
assistant director to Ashutosh Gowariker during the filming of Lagaan.
Khan is a follower of spiritual leader J. P. Vaswani.

Rao in Panchgani, India on 1 January 2006. It later reported Khan and
Rao married in a small ceremony at his home in Mumbai, India on 28
December 2005.

having stars like Aamir Khan as the lead actor. Upon its world over
success due to its topic, the movie was selected being India's official
entry for the 74th Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language Film
category. The movie won the National Film Award for Most Popular Film,
an award shared between Aamir Khan and the film's director, Ashutosh
Gowariker.
- August 2003 - He was voted No.2 "Greatest Actor" in the film
personalities category in the Best of India poll conducted by Zee News.

Narmada Bachao Andolan committee with their leader Medha Patkar after
the Gujrat government's decision to raise the height of the Narmada dam.
- 2007 - He produced "Taare Zameen Par" which marked his directorial
debut. Amir Khan also played a supporting role in the film, sharing the
screen with the debut of child actor Darsheel Safary. The film was
initially conceived of and developed by the husband and wife team, Amole
Gupte and Deepa Bhatia. It was a story of a young child who suffers in
school until a teacher identifies him as dyslexic. The movie was
critically acclaimed, as well as a box office success. Taare Zameen Par
won the 2008 Filmfare Best Movie Award as well as a number of other
Filmfare and Star Screen Awards. Khan's work won him two awards at the
Filmfare, the Best Movie and the Best Director awards, which established
his status as a competent filmmaker in Bollywood.
- 2007 - Aamir Khan was invited to have a wax imitation of himself put
on display at Madame Tussauds in London. However, he declined stating
that, "It's not important to me... people will see my films if they want
to. Also, I cannot deal with so many things, I have bandwidth only for
that much.
- April 2008 - He received a "Special Award" from Master Dinanath
Mangeshkar Smruti Pratisthan for his exceptional services to Indian
cinema.
- 2008 - Amir Khan launched his nephew Imran Khan's debut in the film
Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na under his production house. The film was a big
hit in India, and eventually earned Khan another nomination for Best
Movie at the Filmfare.
- He has the highest grossing Indian film of all time with 3 Idiots.
- He was the first Bollywood actor to cross the 100 crore mark with
his 2008 film Ghajini, which became the highest grossing film of all
time until his next release 3 Idiots.

by the Government of Maharastra for outstanding contribution to the
Indian cinema.

- 2011 - Amir Khan released his home production Dhobi Ghat. which was
directed by his wife Kiran Rao. He is also the co-producer of "Satyamev
Jayate"-a television Talk Show.
- On 16 July 2012, Khan met Prime Minister and the Minister for Social
Justice and Empowerment, discussed the plight of manual scavengers and
sought eradication of manual scavenging in the country.
- He has been supporting common causes and in the same row when asked
about views on entertainment tax in 2012 budget Amir said, I don't want
any reduction in that, all I expect is focus on education and
nutrition.
